Are you still alive?

Dear family and friends,

We are still alive...Just a quick note to let everyone know we are up and running at the new house. Two more days until school is back in swing and one more day until we have a phone line and Internet. God, as always, is good...the move has been phenomenal. It was a prayed over decision and God has confirmed again and again that we made the correct decision.

Yesterday afternoon was delightful as I was doing odds and ends, the girls were washing and detailing the van, and the boys had finally caught a fish in Pearl Harbor! Ed had just accomplished a run ... a great afternoon.

P.S.-Just started reading Les Miserables to the children today after Bible time while watching ships float by!

Who would have thought orange?

Dear family and friends,

When I was growing up I decided the color that I liked the least was orange. I've had to apologize to God for my limited perspective as I've seen it here in Hawaii in such a different light.

Tomorrow is moving day. This will be our first family move that we are doing ourselves. We get the keys at 8:15am and the cars are already loaded tonight. It's going to be quite the adventure.

The thing that I haven't mentioned, but we are truly amazed by, is that we will be living with the channel to Pearl Harbor in our back yard. We can hardly wait to watch submarines, destroyers, carriers, and such float by. What a way to do dishes! I took a picture just last week in order to give you a peek...

We have two and a half weeks of school under our belts and class will resume a week from tomorrow.

The best thing about moving is I get to be with my man every day...God is teaching me more about loving him lately. I never want to become lazy or complacent in something that is so vital.

How many times are you moving?

Dear family and friends,

It has begun...the great move marathon.

We just finished a fantastic week of VBS and next week Ed will be in D.C. while Wyatt is on Maui for Boy Scouts camp. The girls, the little man, and the mama will be doing a lite week of school while preparing for the upcoming move one street over.

We did heavy moving cleaning in May yet there's still plenty to be accomplished. So grateful for all that has already been taken care of.

This morning I told the children, after the little straightening that needed to be done, would they please spend some time going through what has already been done. If it should be thrown away or given away please put it in the appropriate pile. The girls have been holed up for at least two hours. Just a minute ago I checked on them to find them in the middle of their floor cutting things out of magazines, so they could throw the magazines away of course. Not really the vision I had, but I couldn't not smile at the two of them enjoying each others company!

Love to you all...I wonder what all God is going to teach us this year? May He move more mightly in our hearts than our belongings!

What will we do to celebrate next year?

Dear family and friends,

We watched the fireworks on Pearl Harbor this year. It was fantastic: dear friends, lots of children, no traffic, and five minutes away. If I had to do it over again I would have brought the music myself.

We have so many memories of the Fourth of July that make us so grateful.
Of course I can never be on Pearl Harbor that I don't think of so many years ago when the smoke in the sky was not so celebratory. Lives have been lost in this very place, so we can be free...

P.S.-I wonder how we'll celebrate next year :)!
